What is SFOC?
Specific Fuel Oil Consumption (SFOC) measures how efficiently an engine uses fuel. It represents the amount of fuel (in grams) needed to produce one kilowatt-hour (kWh) of energy. Lower SFOC values indicate better fuel efficiency.
How Fuel Oil Consumption is Calculated
The calculator uses these formulas:
- Fuel Mass (kg): (Engine Power × SFOC × Running Time) ÷ 1000
- Fuel Volume (liters): (Fuel Mass ÷ Corrected Density) × 1000
- Corrected Density: ρ15 × [1 − (T − 15) × 0.00064]
