This calculator helps you estimate fuel consumption and cost for your yacht journey. The total cost is determined using a simple formula: (Distance ÷ Speed) × Fuel Rate × Fuel Price. The fuel burn rate is influenced by engine size and yacht type. For example, a 300 hp diesel engine typically uses ~16–17 gal/hour. Superyachts (~70 m) can consume up to 130 gal/hour, costing over €2,000/hour when cruising at 20 knots.
You can also convert the fuel from liters to gallons for convenience. Fuel prices vary, with diesel costing around $3.20–$3.90 per gallon, and petrol upwards of $7.20. A built-in 10% buffer accounts for weather, drag, and other voyage-specific factors.
